Microchanneling

A nonsurgical facial and body rejuvenation treatment that gives your skin a firm and youthful appearance

What is microchanneling?

Microchanneling is a minimally invasive and nonablative skin treatment that reduces fine lines, acne scars, large pores, wrinkles, and burn wounds. It involves the use of fine needles to create controlled micro-injuries on your skin.

Each micro-injury results in a channel that prompts your skin to release serum containing cytokines and growth factors such as collagen, elastin, fibroblasts, and melanocytes — the ingredients for fresher, more resilient skin.

What are the benefits of Microchanneling?

Besides keeping your epidermis intact and allowing rapid natural healing response, microchanneling:

  • Freshens up and firms your facial and body skin
  • Is more cost-effective than most lasers and IPL treatments
  • Comes at minimal discomfort, as it only feels like a sunburn
  • Improves blood flow in areas of poor healing
  • Induces elastin tightening
  • Minimizes white stretch marks and mild vascular rosacea
  • Can be repeated every 4–6 weeks, or every 6 months for medical purpose
  • Is safe for all areas of the face, neck, and body
  • Can last 2–10 years, depending on your age and lifestyle

How it works

Microneedles create microchannels

Precision microneedles are tapped into the skin creating uniform microchannels. Using the ProCell System, a single tap will create hundreds of thousands of microchannels.

Stimulation of a healing response

Each microchannel is surrounded by healthy tissue, which enhances the healing process. In response to each micro-injury, an inflammatory healing process initiates the formation of new collagen.

Over time, the repeated healing process will build new collagen. This improves the surface texture and the overall appearance of your skin.

What’s the difference between Microchanneling and Microneedling?

  • Microchanneling results in extremely shortened downtime at 60–90 minutes
  • The linear stamping technique results in substantially decreased discomfort
  • The procedure time is cut in half, thanks to a variety of needle tip sizes for different areas of the skin
  • The growth factor serums that microchanneling triggers deliver previously unattainable results

Microchanneling is not eligible if you:

  • Have open wounds
  • Have skin cancer or lesions
  • Have an active bacterial or fungal infection
  • Are currently on Accutane (a one-year wait is required after the last use)
  • Are currently going through any type of chemotherapy or radiation
  • Are pregnant or nursing
  • Have dark or keloid scarring
  • Have vascular diseases or cardiac abnormalities
  • Have had shingles on your face

Post-treatment care

  • Avoid applying anything to treated areas for 90 minutes, unless it is provided to you by your certified Microchanneling specialists
  • Avoid touching treated areas with your hands, cell phone, or any other objects for 90 minutes, as doing so can cause an allergic reaction or acne breakout
  • Avoid direct sunlight for 24 hours after your treatment
  • You can apply sunscreen and moisturizer 90 minutes after your treatment is finished
  • Stay hydrated and moisturize your skin regularly
  • Worry not if you experience tightness, itchiness, warmth, sensitivity, general light sunburnt appearance to skin, or redness — this means your skin is healing!

Frequently Asked Questions

This depends on your goal. For light anti-aging, 1–2 treatments are generally sufficient. For deeper wrinkles and acne scarring, you might need 5 or more treatments to achieve desired results. There is no limit to the number of treatments you can receive as long as adequate time passes in between each treatment.

A normal reaction can look like anything from pinpoint bleeding for longer lengths to a pink or red blush to nothing at all.

Sometimes a single treatment gives your skin a fresher, plumper look almost immediately. After two weeks, you can begin seeing new skin formation.

Yes! Combining treatments generally mean longer downtimes, but also more impressive results. Treatments such as a light microdermabrasion or light chemical peel can be performed right before Microchanneling.
